Vigil Beta ยท Policy version 2026-10-30

Beta & Data Limitations

Effective October 30, 2026

A brief, plain-language guide to what Vigil can and cannot promise during its early beta.

A small, evolving beta

Vigil is being developed carefully as an organizational aid for doulas and others involved in end-of-life support. Some features are unfinished, and the service may change or occasionally be unavailable.

Not a medical or legal vault

Please do not store protected health information, official clinical records, or specially regulated sensitive information. The current hosting arrangements are not configured to support those materials. Vigil does not replace professional advice or legally authorized recordkeeping.

Keep your own copies

Important original documents and records should have a safe independent copy. The Download my records feature provides a JSON copy of accessible database records, but not original uploaded PDFs or photographs; it is not a complete backup.

Archiving is not deletion

Removing something from your everyday view does not remove it from storage. Permanent removal of uploaded files and full self-service account deletion are not yet supported or guaranteed. For help, write to doulakit@vigilplace.com.

Inactivity and ending beta

We hope to introduce a one-year inactivity policy with a warm notice approximately two months beforehand. It is not currently automated. If the beta ends, we aim to provide advance notice and a reasonable opportunity to retrieve available records.
